“Prosôpon” is a series of acrylic plaster masks, directly derived from blister packagings that have no interest a priori. From the Greek theater, this term originally means both “face” and “mask”, the etymology emphasizing the idea of face where is the organ of sight and external appearance of inanimate things.

These sculptures required no other intervention from the artist than the production of a mold that reveals their anthropomorphic qualities. Their disproportionate, geometric or inverted organs surprise by their hybrid connection with fetishes of Tribal Art and android creations of new technologies. If Angelique’s initial intention is to question the aesthetics of packaging, her approach also echoes Readymades and the Dada spirit.

These idols offer multiple levels of reading; they are survivals of the magical nature of art, questionings on our consumption patterns and uncertainties about our future in the era of robotization.
