True morality is not weakness, but strength under control.
Being harmless is not the same as being good. If you’re incapable of doing harm, you’re not
“choosing” to be good you’re simply not dangerous. That’s not virtue that’s limitation.
But if you have the capacity for force whether physical, mental, or emotional and you choose restraint, that’s real morality. That’s where discipline, ethics, and responsibility live.
People often mistake being soft spoken, non aggressive, or weak as being moral. But morality is about choice especially the hard ones. The choice not to dominate, hurt, or retaliate when you have the power to do so is the virtue. Someone who is harmless can’t hurt you but that doesn’t mean they’re good. Goodness is ethical, restraint, not just the absence of power.
I created this painting to challenge lazy definitions of
“goodness” and ask us to cultivate strength not to wield it, but to master.
