In this compelling right half of “Artist and Time,” Oleg Litvinov presents Time as a wise, winged elder — a personification of Kronos or Father Time. With a long white beard, somber eyes, and a muscular, almost divine form, the figure solemnly holds an hourglass, the symbol of life’s constant and inevitable flow. His gaze is heavy with experience, as if burdened by the endless passage of moments. Surrounding him are reminders of mortality and transience: skulls, broken tools, sleeping children, and ancient ruins. The skeletal hand near the ground and the crumbling architecture in the background further emphasize the inevitability of decay. The clock tower rising behind him stands like a monument to civilization’s obsession with measuring time—beautiful yet fleeting. Litvinov contrasts the vibrant imagination of the Artist (left panel) with the stoic, unchanging essence of Time.
